Petrified wood loop, Valley of Fire

On the last day of 2025 we did an exploratory hike in the north part of Valley of Fire. Going up Duck Rock road to Overton wash and turning right for another mile. Then south following a wash to Magnesite wash to Gibraltar wash and back to the cars.

First evening primrose of the season. Looking like a good year for flowers.

The small slot at the Duck Rock wash road crossing.

Up in Overton wash a rock just before we turned south,

Coming up out of the wash. You see some of the Jeep trails north of VOF.

Previous visitors have placed some petrified wood on outcrops for us to find. We didn't take any. Take only pictures and leave only foot prints. And try not to leave footprints where they will last a long time.

There were also some Moqui balls in the large size.

The hiking stick is 1 meter long.

Last piece of petrified wood almost at Magnesite wash.

Coming out of Gibraltar rock near the cars.

Route. About 6 miles.
