Over view of Snow Canyon
Most of our happy group
One of the first high points we came to.
Scrambling on Turtlebacks
More scrambling on turtlebacks
Even more scrambling on Turtlebacks.
Looking toward red sand trail that goes into the cliffs in the distance and leads to Padre Canyon where most of us turned around.
Looking back toward the Turtleback area from the wash that had the Redbuds.
This is the first part of the trail into the cliffs before it forked left toward Padre canyon.
Padre Canyon overlook. Most turned around here.
The second day we went to three petroglyph sites. Slot canyon, Sinking ship rock, and Newspaper rock.
This is the group descending toward the Slot Petroglyph.
Group gathered at the entrance of the slot. It is very narrow and we limited ourselves to 7 people per group.
The slot is blocked by this tree
Then it gets down to the strait and narrow.
The petroglyphs are carved into the rock and very weathered.
Next was Sinking Ship rock. It was located in front of a house with large picture windows that had a view of the rock.
The next panel was not scouted on the advance trip to Snow canyon, so all but 5 of our group of 20 people headed back to the cars while the few tried to find Newspaper rock. Pictured below.
Here are the flowers that were blooming. The maps with notes are at the end.
