Mono Pass Sep 6, 2017

Mono pass is a 12,000 foot pass in the Sierra Nevada mountains reached out of the Little lakes valley south of Tom's Place.

Walking through little lakes valley you pass lake after lake. This was in September when summer and the flower display is usually over, but due to the tremendous snow fall this past winter, spring had just arrived.

 Rock Fringe

 Davidsons Penstemon

Ruby lake half way to the pass.

Near the pass the clouds developed

At the pass there was still a snow field.  It will not melt this year before the first snowfall.

Compare this shot to the same location a year and a half ago in June (cover photo of this Blog)

Supply train heading to support some back country campers.

View north from Mono pass. Mt Huntington, I think.
