5 slots loop

This dark and cloudy day with 30% chance of rain, 7 Sierra club members braved the weather and hiked Valley of Fire anyway.

We got lucky and most of the rain waited till we were back in the cars. Conditions were dark for photography, but this is what I got.

The happy group shortly after leaving the cars at Parking lot #2 and heading north east toward the wave.

Heading cross country toward the wave

Passed a lot of colored rocks on the way.

Getting closer to the wave. The Wave Wall is the rock in the background here.

 Nearing the Wave.

The Wave with Brenda on top.

We left the Wave by passing the Wave Wall, but not in the valley as usual, but on the ridge line where there are purple rocks.

We then followed the wash to the first of the slots before crossing the road. After crossing the road we passed through the second slot and took a detour to the right to see Crazy Hill, aka paint spill rock?

Looks just like someone spilled some buckets of paint.

We then returned to the wash and the third slot, before arriving at the tall slot (#4) here, where we turned around and did it again making a 5 slot loop.

After returning through the tall slot we turned right at the movie set and followed a ramp south into the rocks.

Dropping off the middle of the ramp.

 Scenery along the way.
Dropping off the next bench just before the Eye of the Iguana.

Heading down beautiful wash on the way back to the cars.

Side trip to colorful rocks.

Part through the rocks after the tall slot, and going south cross country .
