Canyon de Chelly

We took 4 days to sightsee in AZ. Our first stop was Canyon de Chelly, We camped in their campground and took a guided tour the next day with the guides from Thunderbird lodge.

They drove us in these old 6X6 trucks. Most of the track was sand, and much of it was under water because of the wet winter and spring.

View back at a jeep following us.

Another jeep that got stuck in quicksand. We saw another one later.

One of the old Navajo trails out of the canyon. Moki steps.

Our guide called this Richard Nixon rock. Looking right.

One of the upper ladders on the old Navajo trails. The ladder was put in by the park service about 50 years ago.

  New graffiti.

Another improved trail out of the canyon.

White House ruin.....the only one you can hike to without a guide.
