Valley of FIre,beyond the overlook, 3-4-2017

This hike started at Rainbow Vista parking lot and went out the overlook trail toward fire wash. At the overlook we continued down into the wash and followed it to the main wash where we turned left and followed that wash till another wash headed back up to Silica Dome ( east side) and then back to the cars along the road. About 4 miles and 300 feet elevation gain.

                                This is where the maintained trail ends and we drop into fire wash.

                                             Nice area of slick rock along the path.

                                                 Nice Cholla and an anvil rock

                                                      We went through several slots.

                       This is the east side of Silica Dome where we had lunch.

                                     Up from the lunch area was a little arch and a red stripe

                                             Up from the lunch spot was a rock cave area.

                                 One early wildflower. I think it is Spectacle Pod.

                                                            This is a Milkvetch of some kind.
